Isis hit back at Iraq army

Ruthless ISIS hits back as Iraqi army moves into
Falluja
Iraqi soldiers. File Photo.
Militants from the so-called Islamic State have launched
a dawn counter-attack as Iraqi government troops push
into the city of Falluja.
A day after troops advanced through the southern
suburb of Nuaimiya, scores of IS fighters attacked them,
army officers told news agencies.
The army defeated the attackers but suffered casualties,
the sources said.
Aid workers are increasingly concerned for the safety of
50,000 civilians said to be trapped in Falluja.
Reports speak of people starving to death and of being
killed for refusing to fight for IS.
The Iraqi military has urged those remaining to either
leave the city or stay indoors but IS is preventing
civilians from fleeing.
IS claims to be successfully repelling the Iraqi army
offensive against it in Falluja, providing battle footage
and images as evidence.
Last week, the group highlighted what it said was the
impact of the offensive on civilians in the city, releasing
footage of severely-injured children that was then widely
shared on social media. The group typically shows
images of civilian casualties to undermine anti-IS
military campaigns.
Although IS has not commented on civilians trapped in
the city in the latest offensive, it has in the past warned
Sunni Muslims against leaving IS-held territory.
And last week its spokesman, Abu-Muhammad al-
Adnani, said that IS militants would "fight to the death"
in all its strongholds even if it meant the death of
civilians - indicating that the group will pursue a
scorched earth policy.
As such, it is unlikely that IS would allow civilians to
leave Falluja. The UN refugee agency says families have
reported being used as human shields by IS, forced to
move with militants from one location to another.
Falluja fell to IS in January 2014, a key moment in the
Sunni Muslim jihadist group's rise that saw it declare a
caliphate across swathes of Iraq and Syria.
It is one of two major cities held by IS in Iraq - the other
being Mosul.
Lt Gen Abdelwahab al-Saadi, the overall commander of
the Falluja operation, told AFP news agency around 100
IS fighters had taken part in the attack and 75 of them
had been killed.
"They came at us heavily armed but did not use car
bombs or suicide bombers," he said.
But two officers with special forces in the area told the
Associated Press news agency that the jihadists had
sent out six explosives-laden cars, none of which
reached their targets.
IS also used snipers and tunnels in the attack, they
added, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Jan Egeland, secretary general of the Norwegian Refugee
Council, which helps families displaced from the city,
warned on Tuesday that a "human catastrophe" was
unfolding in Falluja.
"Families are caught in the crossfire with no safe way
out," he said.
"Warring parties must guarantee civilians safe exit now,
before it's too late and more lives are lost."
The situation of civilians in the city is dire, the BBC's
Jim Muir reports from Iraq.
They have lived through a nine-month siege with little
food or medicine and now they face mortal danger if
there is an all-out assault on the city centre, our
correspondent says.
The IS fighters are being widely accused of using them
as human shields, he adds.

Sports:dani alves to join juventus

DANI ALVES SET TO JOIN SERIE A
CHAMPIONS JUVENTUS
By Romeo Agresti
The Brazil international will leave Catalonia after
eight years and 23 major honours with the Camp Nou
club in favour of a switch to the Italian giants this
summer
EXCLUSIVE
Barcelona full-back Dani Alves will join Serie A
winners Juventus this week on a two-year contract,
Goal can reveal.
The 33-year-old is expected to earn around €4
million-per-year during his stay in Turin, with the
option of an additional year inserted into his
contract.
The marauding right-back brings with him a wealth
of international experience, having won 89 caps for
his country, and is highly regarded by Massimiliano
Allegri, who is eager to stamp his authority on
Europe.

greatness
Alves, who joined the Blaugrana from Sevilla in 2008,
will arrive with considerable UEFA Champions League
exposure, having lifted the European Cup on three
occasions in 2009, 2011 and 2015.
Wing-back Stephan Lichtsteiner has a contract at the
club until 2017 and is unlikely to depart the Old Lady
of Italian football following the Brazilian's impending
switch, with Juan Cuadrado tipped to join former
manager Antonio Conte at Chelsea this summer.
Juve will also offer Alves' team-mate Javier
Mascherano a two-year deal, however the option of a
third will not be included. The Argentine defender is
keen to move to the Italian north and talks with his
agents have gone smoothly, but an agreement with
Barca is still yet to be met.
The European heavyweight clubs enjoy a great
working relationship and Juve are hesistent to
stretch their correspondence but Mascherano is
enamoured with the idea of being allowed to return
to a midfield role under Allegri.

Delicious beverages found in the northern sector of Ghana

Beside the Cokes, Fantas and Beers, Ghana has
its own awesome local beverages which are more
nutritious than the imports.
Almost every tribe has its form of beverage, but the
people 0f the North are well known for having numerous
kinds of drinks which are often prepared from special
grains and plants.
Here are some of these beverages you definitely need to
try.
1. Brukina
A song was even composed for this beverage. This
beverage is made from fresh milk, usually from cows,
with some few nutritive ingredients added to it to make
it more delicious better. So instead of always buying
this factory manufactured milk all the time, a cup
brukina a day will be good for you.
2. Tankwan Beer
Tankwan beer is made from spices thus explaining its
‘chilly’ but delicious taste . The ingredients are highly
nutritive because it contains a variety of spices that are
all good for the body and helps burn unnecessary
calories. It’s also rumored to be good for the ‘manhood’.
3. Ataya
Ataya, which is usually speculated to be a potency
beverage, is prepared from the ataya leaf. It is a form of
tea for the people of the North and if you haven’t tasted
this before, you definitely need to.
4. Pito
Pito is an alcoholic beverage prepared from millet or
sorghum. I personally think it’s better than most of the
foreign alcoholic beverages in the country because it is
more nutritive even with no additives.
5. Zimkom
In the process of preparing pito, the millet is fermented
in water and later forced to dry. In doing this, the millet
is packed in to sacks and large stones are placed on it
to drain the water. The water that is drained from the
millet is collected as another beverage and this
beverage is known as Zimkom in the Dagbani language
which means “millet water”. This beverage is well known
for fighting fever and malaria and although it tastes
sour, it is quite delicious.
6. Siroo
Siroo is what most of us know as Sobolo and we believe
most of you thought it is a beverage for the people of
the South (sorry to bust your bubble, it is not).
7. Noono
Noono is also prepared from fresh cow milk and has a
lot of similarities to Brukina.
8. Lamugin
Lamugin is also similar to Tankwan Beer but with
lamugin, lime is added to the mixture.

Bukom banku grabbs ladies breast

Actress, Ama K Abeberese is calling on the Ministry of
Gender, Children and Social Protection to order the
arrest of Ghanaian Boxer. Bukom Banku for fondling
ladies breasts in public.
Photos and video of the ‘bleaching’ boxer fondling the
breasts of two young looking ladies flooded social
media Monday.
Ama k Abeberese also a TV presenter who didn’t take
the pictures and video kindly , described the 'African
Mayweather’s' actions as abusive and disturbing.
The actress also took to her Facebook page to call on
the Ministry of Gender to investigate the action of the
boxer.
Below is what Ama k Abeberese posted on her page:
“Why is he grabbing the breast of young girls on
camera? If this is what he does publicly I don't even
want to imagine what happens behind closed doors.
This is not in any way funny. Is disturbing, it's abusive
and I hope the relevant authorities deal with it. The
Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection needs
to investigate this.
It is very worrying to me the amount of comments that
are blaming these young girls saying that they are
'enjoying it' and calling them all sorts of names. If these
girls are underage, then what he is doing is abusive. I do
not know their age but they look young.
It's important to note that whether they look like they
are enjoying it or not does not stop it being abusive.
Most people that are groomed from a young age and
molested over a period of time do not any better. The
psyche of abuse victims is rather complex.
If these girls have been abused their whole lives, they
do not know any better. Some young girls and boys are
sexually and emotionally abused from an early age. So
by the time they grow up they think it's normal
behaviour. They are victims and some do not even
realise it.
Furthermore, if you think that it is OK that a grown man
will engage in this sort of behaviour with young people,
then you are also part of the bigger problem of our
society and why so many abusers/predators continue to
abuse and molest young people and get away with it”.

Racist German party leader whippedGauland later denied the comments and said he never

insulted Boateng whom he did not know. He added

that he had only described some people’s attitudes in

a background conversation with the journalists.

Meanwhile, Frauke Petry who later apologized to

Boateng tweeted: “Jerome Boateng is a super

footballer who is rightly a member of the German

national team. I’m looking forward to the European

Championship.”

Jerome Boateng opted to play for Germany who he

played for even in youth tournaments whilst Kevin

Prince Boateng switched allegiance to Ghan on
Jerome Boateng comments.

Alexander Gauland, deputy chief of the German right-
wing Alternative fuer Deutschland (AfD) and his party
have come under heavy criticism over racist
comments about footballer Jerome Boateng.

Gauland told the Sunday newspaper Frankfurter
Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung who headlined the news
as “Gauland insults Boateng”, and quoted the
politician as saying: “People find him good as a
footballer, but they don’t want to have Boateng as a
neighbour.”
He said most Germans would not like to have Boateng,
whose father is Ghanaian, as a neighbor in an
interview which sparked a wide condemnation across
the country
Boateng, 27, was born to a German mother in Germany
just like his brother Kelvin Prince Boateng, and both
to a Ghanaian father.
The leader of the AfD, Frauke Petry, apologised for the
impression and Germany manager Oliver Bierhoff said
people who made such comments “are simply
discrediting themselves”.
Vice-chancellor Sigmar Gabriel expressed his disgust
at the comments when he said: “that Gauland is not
just against foreigners but againsit the good things
about Germany”.

What happens when you stop having sex

This is what happens to your body when
you stop having sex

It is a well-known fact that active sexual life
influences your health in a very good way. But would
you know that abstinence could actually be harmful?
The lack of sexual activity could influence not only
physical but also mental health. Bladder dysfunction,
erectile dysfunction and depression are only few of
long abstinence’s side effects one could experience.
If you are leading active sexual life – good for you,
keep it up! It influences your general health only in a
good way. Researches show that people having
intercourse at least 2-3 times per week, have
generally more positive set of mind, are less likely to
suffer from hight blood pressure, have a better
working immune system and are more stress resistant.
However, in case if you haven’t found your significant
one and seem to be in no rush, you should definitely
know about these side effects total lack of sexual
activity might result in.
Here is what happens to your body when you don’t
have a sexual life.
1. Deterioration of brain function
Sex makes you smarter. Researches has shown regular
sexual satisfaction is prone to heighten your memory
capacity and better studying results.
2. Erectile dysfunction
Men that have not sufficient frequency of sexual
activity are twice more likely to experience erectile
dysfunction than the ones who have sex at least once
per week.
3. Self esteem
Staying clear of sex can hit your self esteem, well, in
the nuts! It can also form a sort of feeling of guilt,
lower oxytocin and other important hormone’s
production.
4. Low natural lubricant production
Experts say regular sexual activity is influencing the
level of natural lubricant woman’s body can produce.
Some time of abstinence can result in feeling of
dryness and provoke the need for artificial lubricants
to be used.
5. Reduction of bladder control
Strong pelvic diaphragm is mandatory for the ability to
avoid urinary leakage. The good kind of sex is an
excellent exercise for those muscles as they are
contracting and firming during orgasm.

MESSI TAX TRIAL BEGINS IN BARCELONA
The Argentina and Barcelona superstar has been
charged with three counts of tax fraud, along with
his father, and court proceedings got underway in
Spain on Tuesday
The tax trial against Lionel Messi began in Barcelona
on Tuesday.
Messi and his father have been charged with three
counts of tax fraud worth €4.1million dating back to a
period from 2007 to 2009.
The Barcelona and Argentina star will
testify personally on Thursday - just four days before
his country's opening Copa America fixture against
Chile in the United States - as he attempts to clear
his name.

His lawyer Enrique Bacigalupo was present for the
start of proceedings at the Eighth Court of Barcelona.
Messi had been set to avoid a trial on the grounds
that his father Jorge Messi was

but the state attorney later opted to overrule the
advice of prosecutors and ordered both to take the
stand.

Shangai on the ladder of offloading asamoah gyan

SHANGHAI SIPG TO OFFLOAD GYAN DUE TO
INJURIES
Evans Gyamera-Antwi
The Chinese giants are weighing up options to part
ways with the Black Stars captain, following a
lacklustre outing this season
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan could be axed anytime
soon by his club Shanghai SIPG, according to South
China Morning Post .
The 30-year-old joined the Chinese Super League
outfit from United Arab Emirates side Al Ain FC in
2015 but ‘has failed to live up to expectations’,
prompting plans by the Red Eagles to part ways with
the former Sunderland player, the paper said.
Gyan is reported to be earning $350,000 a week,
making him the highest paid footballer in Africa, and
ranked sixth in the world. However, in an attempt to
reduce their bulging wage bill, SIPG want to sack the
Ghanaian and free up one of their four slots for
foreign players, according to the report.
The Black Stars top scorer made ten appearances in
the Chinese Super League last season, claiming four
goals but has played only six games out of eleven
this term, netting two goals.
SIPG manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is reported to
have expressed interest in Zenit St Petersburg’s
Brazilian striker Hulk as Gyan's replacement.
Shanghai sit fourth on the log with 21 points, seven
points behind leaders Guanzhou Evergrande.   Fb@Nicolas acheampong

Ghana have been ever-present since the inception of
the Women's Under-17 World Cup in 2008.
Nonetheless, a third position at the 2012 edition in
Azerbaijan, beating Germany by a lone goal in the
third-place playoff, remains the West Africans' best
finish.
Cameroon and Nigeria will be the continent's other
representatives in Jordan.
The former drew Venezuela, Germany and Canada in
Group B, while the latter made Group C alongside
Brazil, England and Korea DPR.
The 2016 gathering, the fifth edition of the
tournament, runs between September 30 and October
21.

Dangote group

Dangote announces $35m expansion
programme in Ghana
Nigeria's largest cement producer, Dangote has
announced a 35 million dollar expansion programme in
Ghana as part of initiatives to meet local demand.
The company will over the next three months expand its
Tema factory which will see it producing 1.5 million
tonnes of cement annually. As part of the expansion
plans, Dangote has also acquired a 41 acre land at
Takoradi in the Western Region to set up a plant which
would further produce 3 million tonnes of cement
annually. The grinding and bagging plant is expected to
take 4 years to complete.
Briefing the press in Accra, Executive Vice-Chairman of
the Dangote subsidiary in Ghana, Tajudeen Sijuade said
the rationale behind the expansion programme was to
meet the supply gap on the market.
“When we start production, we are still going to
maintain our quality. When the expansion work is
completed, the Tema plant will employ 500 more people
and the Takoradi plant will create about 1,200 jobs,” he
noted.
Currently, the total production of cement in Ghana
stands at 7 million metric tonnes per annum. Dangote
Cement has about 11 percent of the market share but is
projecting a 30 percent market share in the next three
years. Ghacem leads the pack with 58 percent of the
market share while Diamond Cement comes second at 25
percent.

Cement sellers association

The Cement Manufacturers Association of Ghana
(CMAG), has called for a halt in importation of
bagged cement because of its negative
consequences on the economy and the local
cement manufacturing industries.
A statement issued by the association said bagged
cement from China are under-declared and therefore
a huge loss to the economy and jeopardy to the
established local cement industries.
Since April 2015, the association had petitioned the
Ministry of Trade, Tariff Advisory board,
Commissioner of Customs Division of the Ghana
Revenue Authority, and the Parliamentary Select
Committees of Finance and Trade/Industry on the
alarming influx of imported bagged cement.
The association said Ghana does not need imported
cement because the local cement manufacturers
have the adequate installed capacities to sustain
employment, honour financial contributions, add
value, use local raw materials, maintain required
quality standards and meet the growing cement
demands.
Members of the local cement manufacturers,
comprising Ghacem Limited, Diamond Cement
Ghana, Savanna Diamond Cement and Western
Diamond Cement, together have installed capacities
of about 7.4 million tonnes per annum, whereas the
current consumption is only five million tonnes per
annum, leaving a surplus capacity of more than two
million tonnes.
The CMAG said the menace poses a set back and a
challenge to the Ministry of Trade and Industry and
the Association of Ghana industries’ promotion of
Made-in-Ghana products.
It noted that the cost and freight values of imported
cement are ridiculously under declared indicating
figures as low as between $25 and $30 per tonne
are declared as cost and freight from China.
“As seasoned manufacturers of cement with
international links, CMAG certainly knows that
these figures are incorrect, and attention have been
drawn to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana
Revenue Authority and the Tarrif Advisory Board.”
A total of about 500,000 tonnes bagged cement
have been imported into the country and CMAG
dares to say there is revenue loss of more than GH
₵50 million using those ridiculous cost and freight
values.
The cement industry contributes more than GH₵600
million annually in duties and taxes to the state.

Truck hiring services kk nico

Truck Rental Services Review
Why Use a Truck Rental Service?
When you are moving to a new home, you generally
have three options: using truck rental services,
hiring a full-service moving company, or using your
own vehicle to transport items. When you use your
own vehicle, you may use a lot of gas transporting
one load after another and the process is practically
impossible for long-distance moves. On top of that,
many people cannot move their furniture because
they do not own or have access to a van or pickup
truck. Full service-rentals are a convenient and
stress-free option, but the price can often be
astronomical. By using truck rental services, you can
pay for only the services you need while getting the
job done as efficiently as possible.
Truck Rental Services: What to Look For
There are a surprisingly low number of competitors
in the truck rental services industry. For this
reason, your options may be limited by certain
factors such as your location, your service needs or
whether or not you have a vehicle of your own.
When you have more than one option though, there
are a number of things you need to consider when
selecting the right truck rental services for your
needs. For our purposes, we chose to look at the
company’s territory, services, additional equipment,
price and customer service. The following are the
different rating criteria we chose and what we
looked at under each category.
Territory
All truck rental services allow you to make
local moves, but many do not offer one-way
moves, where you are allowed to pickup the
vehicle at one location and drop it off at
another. Aside from this, many companies
have rules or geographic restrictions that limit
where you can and cannot take your rented
vehicle.
Services
While all of the companies rent out moving
trucks, some also rent cargo trailers, auto-
trailers, pickup trucks and vans. Additionally,
some offer assistance with loading or packing
and others have self-storage services available
to those who need them.
Additional Equipment
Moving requires a lot of equipment and while
it isn’t mandatory for truck rental services to
offer boxes, padded blankets, tie downs and
other packing supplies such as tape and
bubble wrap, it is always convenient and can
make your move go much faster when you
know where to get these items. A dolly, on the
other hand, is usually necessary, particularly
for heavier items such as refrigerators and
book cases.
Price
This is one of the most critical aspects of
renting a moving truck or other product. After
all, if price was not a factor, you would
probably choose to opt for a full-service rental
company. In order to compare the prices of
these companies, we looked at the base rental
cost, the fees per mile and the insurance cost
for local moves. It is important to realize that
these rates may vary from location to location
and that the company may also charge
additional fees such as taxes, fuel charges or
environmental fees.
For long-distance moves, we evaluated the cost
of a 3,000 mile trip between La Mesa, CA and
Hinsdale, MA. This was just a control to
estimate the price of the services as a 3,000
mile trip between other locations may vary in
price depending on the company. For the
companies that did not offer services in these
locations, we estimated the cost of a 3,000 mile
trip from their location. We also looked at how
many days renters were allowed to use the
vehicle at this rate and how many people were
able to drive the vehicle, as these would both
play an important role in a trip this long.
Keep in mind that you will also need to pay
for gas along the way and even the companies
that include taxes and other fees in their
estimate do not include your gas costs.
Customer Service
For customer service, we evaluated whether
or not the company offered a guarantee, if
they provided roadside service in the event of
an emergency, moving tips on their website
and if they provide pickup services for those
that do not have cars. While pickup service
and moving tips are nice perks, we found the
company’s guarantee of their services and
their roadside assistance to be the most
important aspects in this area.
While not everyone will be able to use the services
of any given company, it is still useful to be able to
compare these truck rental services to get an idea of
what to expect from the particular company you are
using. In some cases, you might find it is better to
contact a car rental company and rent a pickup truck
rather than work with the moving company in your
area. In other cases, you might find it is worth your
while to drive a little out of your way to rent from
higher-ranked truck rental services than one closer
to your starting point.
After considering all of the above factors, the leading
competitors in the industry were Budget Truck
Rentals , Penske and U-Haul in that order. If you
need help deciding on the right truck rental services
for your needs, be sure to check out our helpful
learning center articles on truck rental services for

Ghacem

Ghana’s real estate industry has been showing
lots of promise over the past decade. During
that period, the number of real estate agents
and developers have grown immensely, which
has culminated in the significant increase in
the number of properties in the country.
However, the long standing dilemma ensues.
With a heavy reliance on electricity and
cement, Ghana’s real estate’s backbone has
been systematically susceptible to price
fluctuations. This is because of the growing
demand for electricity and cement by private
and commercial consumers. Cement is a
crucial component in the real estate industry,
with 77% and 57% accounting for floor
materials and outer walls of buildings in Ghana
respectively. This high dependency means the
fluctuating price of cement is bound to affect
the price of properties concurrently.
In the December 15, 2014 issue of the
Business and Financial Times (B&FT), it was
reported that Ghana Cement Ltd (Ghacem) was
due to see a shortfall in its production output.
According to the report, the move by
Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to ration
power to industrial companies was set to
affect its ability to produce 58,000 bags of
cement.
To be fair to ECG, it is not entirely their fault,
since the challenge posed at Akosombo, with
only five out of six turbines working, has
necessitated the need to ration power
nationwide. With such a move coming into
force, it would mean industrial companies will
have power cuts for 48 hours while enjoying
six days uninterrupted power supply. Unlike
the domestic sector which would have
embraced this better than their status quo, the
industrial sector cannot afford to have such an
experience.
With an annual growth rate of 10 – 15%, the
energy sector needs much investment to curb
Ghana’s perennial energy crises. It is therefore
laudable that government has pledged to
ensure that Ghana produces 5000 MW of
electricity by 2016. That would be a remarkable
achievement considering the current amount
of an estimated 2800MW. It would however
have to take an all-hands-on-deck approach,
led primarily by government and supported by
the private sector to realize this goal.
Local matertials to the rescue
With the seemingly production cut by Ghacem
however, the real estate sector is likely to be
affected. All is not lost however as for every
problem, there is a solution. Lamudi Ghana has
set its sights on improving the property market
and late this year, the property expert
organized a roundtable discussion concerning
sustainable real estate.
The discussion made startling revelations. Of
the most important was the need for Ghana to
adopt local building materials. The nation is
blessed with natural materials such as clay,
pozzolana, timber and building lime, yet an
estimated 70% of building materials are
imported annually.
Earth bag being used in the construction of a
house
It is striking to note that the use of local
materials is rather a cheaper option than
sandcrete. For every square meter, clay bricks
would cost around $300 while sandcrete
(cement blocks) would cost $500. This was
according to Orthner and Orthner architect,
Akosua Obeng.
This is not to say sandcrete should be entirely
replaced. The nation still will have to depend
on this building material for surfaces such as
foundations, bridges and roads. Cement would
also be needed for high rise buildings and
other luxurious ones. For affordable housing
however, it is high time that Ghana make a
more concerted effort at pushing the drive
towards the adoption of local building
materials.
